The beginning of the Great TV Drought of 2020 is near, but it’s not quite here yet, as Noel and Kate dive in with another full week of TV. We kick things off with some reality, including the premiere of Legendary, a check-in with The Big Flower Fight season one, Ultimate Tag and Holey Moley, and the Drag Race reunion. Then we move over to genre and drama and wrap up the week with the premiere of Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD, a greatly anticipated DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and the finale of The Good Fight. Afterward, we head to the DVD Shelf, as we discuss FX on Hulu’s Mrs. America, a miniseries about the fight to pass the ERA. Listen for our thoughts, then reach out with your own, and your recommendations for shows we should seek out once the Drought kicks in.

It’s a rough one. Noel, Allison, and Kate finish out week 10 Streaming In Place with Lucifer season three, episode 17, “Let Pinhead Sing!” On the positive side, Allison’s going to start watching Avatar: The Last Airbender, and maybe pull out her uke a bit more, inspired by Pierce’s rousing cover of “Dust In The Wind.” On the down side, everything else about this episode. Listen for our thoughts, then come back next week for our take on season three episode 18, “The Last Heartbreak.”

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Lurker, Marcus, and Scottie. Thanks for helping us feel less alone on this one, and puzzling through the whole Sinnerman Palmetto ridiculousness. We hope you’ll be back with us next week!

Afterward, we head to the spotlight section and dive in with the final season of Netflix’s She-Ra and the Princesses of Power. It’s the end of week eight Streaming In Place, and it’s been a long one. Happily, friend of the show LaToya Ferguson is back to help us discuss Lucifer season three, episode seven, “Off the Record.” Bottle episodes, Patrick Fabian’s Twilight Zone energy, and we earn our explicit rating for the first time talking about Lucifer’s duffel bag. Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan and Scottie!

Tricia Helfer is back, and not a moment too soon. Allison, Noel, and Kate wax rhapsodic about Ms. Helfer and the rest of Lucifer season three, episode five, “Welcome Back, Charlotte Richards.” Between the continuing saga of Dan and his pudding, Trixie’s swear jar, and the absence of Amenadiel, there’s plenty to discuss. Listen in for our thoughts, then come back tomorrow for our take on season three, episode six, “Vegas with Some Radish.”

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Marcus, and Scottie! And a special shout-out to Prof. Grayson, who is a very good boy.

After the refreshing change of pace of yesterday’s Maze-centric episode, Lt. Bland rears his head again in Lucifer season three, episode four, “What Would Lucifer Do?” Thankfully, there’s also Amenadiel’s complete lack of game, Lucifer high on a horse, and that potent final scene. Listen in for our thoughts, then come back tomorrow for our take on season three, episode five, “Welcome Back, Charlotte Richards”. Save us, Tricia Helfer!

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Marcus, and Scottie! Thanks for your thoughts on the episode, and your book recommendations!

It’s week eight here at Streaming In Place, and after some rough going with the beginning of the season, Lucifer season three finally picks up with episode three, “Mr. & Mrs. Mazikeen Smith.” Noel, Allison, and Kate celebrate the joys of Squire Trixie, keeper of Maze’s whips and knives, Dan’s Hawaiian shirt, and Maze’s button-sewing skills. So much to appreciate, so little Lt. Bland. Listen in for our thoughts, then come back tomorrow for our take on season three, episode four, “What Would Lucifer Do?”.

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Marcus, and Scottie! Thanks for tuning in and sharing your thoughts.

A wave of spring finales are on the horizon, and who knows what TV will bring as we head into the summer, but for now, there’s still plenty of TV to discuss here on the podcast. Noel and Kate kick things off with their weeks in TV, starting with a particularly delightful What We Do in the Shadows and Katt William’s guest turn on The Last O.G. Then we move to reality, with a compelling We’re Here, an actual celebrity-infused RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race, and the RuPaul’s Drag Race makeover challenge. Last are the genre offerings, including the season finale of Charmed, a frustrating Supergirl, and an utterly ridiculous DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. Afterward, we move to the season spotlight section and dive in with the final season, or more specifically, the final three arcs, of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Ahsoka Tano and Rex, the cost of war, and ridiculously badass fight scenes, season seven delivers on many fronts, and there’s plenty to discuss.

May 9, 2020

It’s the end of week seven Streaming In Place and to be honest, Allison, Noel, and Kate are having a bit of a rough go of it. We’re far from enamored with the beginning of Lucifer season three, and our post-premiere concerns continue in episode two, “The One with the Baby Carrot.” From out-of-character writing to the strange absence of Trixie to whatever the hell was going on with the body-shaming this episode, there’s a lot to dive into. Tune in for our thoughts, then come back next week as we attempt to cleanse the palate with season three, episode three, “Mr. and Mrs. Mazikeen Smith.”

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Marcus, and Scottie. Thank you for powering through with us!

May 8, 2020

After going long talking with our fabulous Zoom listeners on season two, Noel, Allison, and Kate are back to kick off Lucifer season three with the premiere, ”They’re Back, Aren’t They?”. Lucifer’s devil face, the ominous Sinnerman, and of course, our season three addition, Tom Welling as Lieutenant Marcus Pierce Bland. Tune in for our thoughts, then come back tomorrow as we close out the week with season three, episode two, “The One with the Baby Carrot.”

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Lurker, Marcus, and Scottie! A pleasure, as always, chatting with you.

May 6, 2020

We’ve had an entertaining journey through Lucifer season two, so we thought it was only appropriate to take an episode and reflect back on the journey so far. Allison, Noel, and Kate share their thoughts on the season, from the storytelling and production choices to favorite moments and episodes. From Dr. Trixie to Dr. Linda’s bar-fight skills to Amenadiel and Dan’s blossoming bromance, there’s a lot to cover. Shout-out to our Zoom listeners who joined us for this conversation, Lurker, Marcus, Keenan, S.B., and Scottie! Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the season and watching along. We hope you’ll come back for season three, which we’ll be kicking off tomorrow, with episode one, “They’re Back, Aren’t They?”.

May 5, 2020

At long last, Noel, Allison, and Kate finish season two of Lucifer with episode 18, “The Good, The Bad, and The Crispy.” More fun with improv, Dr. Linda’s glasses, and a return to Palmetto logic. Tune in for our thoughts on the finale, then come back tomorrow for our season two wrap-up.

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Marcus and Tanya! Glad you guys could join us and share your thoughts.

May 4, 2020

It’s week seven here at Streaming In Place, and we’re kicking off the week with the penultimate episode of Lucifer season two, episode 17, “Sympathy for the Goddess.” Finally, some good news for Amenadiel, plus bad news for Dr. Linda and some overdue communication between Lucifer and Maze. Tune in for our thoughts, and come back tomorrow for our take on the season two finale, “The Good, The Bad, and The Crispy.”

Shout-out to our Zoom listeners, Keenan, Marcus, and Scottie. It’s always a pleasure chatting with you!

May 2, 2020

Eventually, production delays will result in weeks with little TV to discuss, but fortunately, we’re not nearly there yet. This week on the podcast, Noel and Kate spotlight Televerse favorite Better Things, which concluded its fourth season. Before that, though, we dive in with the week’s TV, starting with the comedies, including A Parks and Recreation Special, the midseason finale of One Day at a Time, and another entertaining What We Do in the Shadows. The genre offerings included emotional episodes of both Batwoman and The Flash, and over at The Good Fight, the plot thickens. We round out the week’s TV with reality, including a tease of Restaurant Wars on Top Chef: All-Stars L.A., another moving We’re Here, the premiere of RuPaul’s Secret Celebrity Drag Race, and a fun political challenge on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Tune in for our thoughts, then reach out with your take on the week’s TV, Better Things, and the viewing that’s bringing you comfort and joy in this moment.
