Finale season pushes ahead, full steam, prompting another of our trademark marathon episodes. We kick things off with the week in comedy, reality, and drama, looking at the finales of Archer: Dreamland, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Jane the Virgin, and Elementary as well as a Drag Race shocker and a less-than-stellar The Handmaid’s Tale. After a quick break, it’s time for the genre offerings, including the much-hyped Laura-centric American Gods, the long-awaited return of Twin Peaks, and the finales of Samurai Jack, The Flash, and Arrow. Then to round out the discussion, friend of the podcast Dr. Elizabeth Bridges returns to help us dive deep on Supergirl’s finale and season two overall, from the highs (Sanvers, Lena, Cat) to the lows (Mon-El, James, basically all the guys), and everything in-between.

Spring finale season is here (immediately following up winter finale season), and that, along with the continuing debuts of midseason and summer TV series, gives us plenty to discuss this week on the podcast. First up, we look at the week in comedy, including the premiere of Downward Dog and the return of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Then it’s finale time, with two of ABC’s strongest comedies signing off for the year, Speechless and Fresh Off the Boat. We pause briefly with reality to chat RuPaul’s Drag Race, and then we dive in with genre and drama, including another relationship-fueled Samurai Jack, a much-buzzed-about American Gods, the penultimate episodes of Supergirl, The Flash, and Elementary, and another topical The Handmaid’s Tale. Lastly, after wrapping up our week in TV, Noel and Kate head over to the Spotlight section and take a long, luxurious look at Sense8’s beautiful, emotional, and surprisingly suspenseful second season.

Another week, another podcast full of TV returns and finales. This episode, Noel and Kate dive in with Underground and look at what did, and didn’t, work about the underappreciated drama’s finale, “Soldier,” and second season as a whole. Before that, though, there’s plenty of comedy and genre TV to discuss. First up are the comedies, with looks at the finales of Superstore and black-ish as well as entertaining installments of Speechless, Angie Tribeca, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Then over in genre, Sense8 returns for season two, Samurai Jack makes a questionable move, Steven Universe is back for a week-long prelude to its May 29th Steven Bomb, iZombie reveals its hand, and Noel and Kate differ on whether American Gods is moving in the right direction, or moving at all. Take a listen, and reach out with your thoughts on Underground and the rest of this busy time for TV.
